How to boost your immune system
Your immune system protects you from infections, viruses, bacteria, pollution and chemicals as well as assisting healing and repair.
Below are some of the things you can do boost your immune system.
1. The intake of Anti-oxidants. These are one of the main lines of defence against damage and disease. They include vitamins A, C, E Zinc and flavanoids. Fruit and vegetables contain an array of anti oxidants. Include an a range of different colours: each colour represents a type of antioxidants. In particular include berries such as strawberries, blueberries, goji berries, and raspberries. All these have anti cancer, immune enhancing properties.
2. Nuts and seeds, pumpkin seeds are great source of zinc which has been shown to reduce infections among the elderly. Brazil nuts are among the best sources of selenium and all nuts contain vitamin E
3.Use echinacea herbal supplements. One of the worlds most powerful immune booster.
4.Garlic and onions have strong anti-viral and anti bacterial effects.
5. Water the ultimate cleanser of toxins. Without water your immune system cannot function. Water keeps things moving through the body and aids the removal of waste. Aim to drink about 8 glasses a day.
6. Use probiotic supplements. Research has shown that probiotics increase the level of immunoglobulins which help protect against viruses and bacteria.
7. Keep a positive mindset. Keep a sunny outlook on life. Avoid and get rid of negative emotions.
Things to avoid
1.Sugar. Sugar supresses the immune system within 30 minutes of ingestion
2.Alchohol reduces the ability of the white blood cells to kill germs.
3.Refined carbohydrate, coffee and salt can deplete you of nutrients and fluids.
4.Negative emotions, stress has a negative impact on the immune system. Learn to relax using breathing exercises and meditation.
Daily habits
1.Get fresh air and lot of sunlight.
2.Engage in physical activity. Moderate exercise strengthen the immune system.
3.Give and recieve plenty of hugs.
